Your stuff doesn’t have to control your life.

“I love my home even more than the day I moved in. I feel joy in every room.” —Adrianne, organization client

Every item you own started with a decision—a decision to buy it or a decision to accept it as a gift. And consciously or subconsciously, if it’s still in your life, you have made the decision to keep it.

Only you can decide if you have too much stuff, if you need to keep this or get rid of that. And that’s where most people get stuck, because it’s very hard to do unless you first understand the why behind your decisions. That’s where I come in.

As a certified organizational coach, I blend my project-management expertise with mindfulness, compassion, and organizing skill. My role is to guide you and support you, without preconceived notions and without judgment.

Whether you want to address one area or your entire home, we will create a vision for a more joyful life, and then utilize that framework to help you make decisions that are consistent with that lifestyle.

The KonMari Method™

It’s about choosing joy. - Marie Kondo

This approach to decluttering has drawn in people across the globe—not only due to its effectiveness, but also because it places great importance on being mindful, introspective, and forward-looking. It encourages tidying by category, instead of by room, so you aren’t picking away at little piles of stuff forever. You begin with clothes, then move on to books, papers, komono (miscellaneous items), and finally, sentimental items.

Keep only those things that speak to the heart. The ones that don’t? Thank them for their service, then let them go.

It’s not complicated, it just requires commitment and accountability. Here are the six steps:

  1. Commit yourself to tidying up

  2. Imagine your ideal lifestyle

  3. Finish discarding first

  4. Tidy by category, not by location

  5. Follow the right order

  6. Ask yourself if it sparks joy

The wellness impact

Many people don’t fully realize that your stuff can impact your wellness, both positively and negatively. Does it add joy? Does it cause stress? Does it create feelings of sadness or even guilt? I help you answer these questions, addressing not only the physical items themselves but also the emotions that arise during the decluttering process. Doing both is vital to determining whether things should stay or go—and ultimately, creating spaces that enhance your life, instead of detracting from it.
